Reliability & Plant Performance

NIQS leads integrated reliability campaigns across mechanical integrity, condition and ISI evidence, operating history, failure mechanisms, calculations, monitoring, maintenance and modifications—then defines how the result will be verified.

Call NIQS when

Plant reliability is constrained by a mechanically open problem.

  • The same failure, alarm, leakage, degradation or maintenance demand has returned.
  • A system or component underperforms despite maintenance or local corrective actions.
  • Condition, ISI, operating, calculation and work-order evidence remain fragmented.
  • A bad-actor or reliability campaign has data but no agreed mechanism, decision route or accountable lead.
  • Operations, maintenance, engineering, projects and suppliers each hold part of the closure path.

Engineering scope

Integrate the evidence. Resolve the mechanism. Improve the plant outcome.

Reliability is treated as an engineered plant result—not a single technique. Measurement, calculations, maintenance, monitoring and modification are used where they close the controlling mechanism and decision.

Decision framePlant function, reliability constraint, asset boundary, required decision, deadline and accountable interfaces.
Evidence integrationCondition and ISI findings, operating and failure history, work orders, modifications, calculations and supplier evidence.
MechanismScreen and test mechanical, structural, hydraulic, thermal, degradation, maintenance and operating hypotheses.
QuantificationUse stress, fatigue, fracture, dynamic, hydraulic, performance or multiphysics analysis as required.
Improvement planEngineer maintenance, monitoring, operating, repair or modification actions with priorities and hold points.
Implementation and verificationLead the assigned workstream and check effectiveness against the agreed baseline and criteria.

Controlled outputs

Work products that support the next decision.

  • Integrated evidence registerCondition, ISI, operating, maintenance, calculation and modification evidence with gaps and uncertainties.
  • Measurement and information planOperating states, locations, data quality, source ownership and decision logic.
  • Mechanism / RCA reportHypotheses, evidence for and against, causal chain and remaining uncertainty.
  • Engineering assessmentIntegrity, condition, dynamic, performance, fatigue, hydraulic or multiphysics basis as required.
  • Reliability improvement packagePrioritised maintenance, monitoring, operating, repair or modification actions and interfaces.
  • Verification and learning reportPost-action condition against agreed criteria, residual actions and lessons retained for the programme.

How results are measured

Measure the change against an agreed baseline.

Integrity and condition

Relevant inspection, condition, stress, fatigue, dynamic or degradation indicators against an agreed baseline.

Failure recurrence

Repeat-failure interval, defect recurrence, work orders, corrective-maintenance demand or alarm duration.

Functional performance

Asset or system response at defined operating states, using the measures relevant to the plant function.

Implementation effectiveness

Corrective actions closed and verified against predefined criteria, with residual controls retained.

Attribution boundary

Equipment unavailability or production effect is reported only where causation and owner data permit attribution. Metrics are selected before work starts.
